The New York State Consumer Protection Board (CPB) recently announced the second phase of its Recall Awareness Promotion Program (RAPP), a unique cooperative venture with various industries and services designed to increase consumer awareness about recalls. The participants strive for the gold standard in consumer safety by:

  • Recommending that their organization and association members register with www.recalls.gov and review the CPB’s website to receive recall and product safety information.
  • Advising organization and association members and others about the importance of prompt removal of recalled products from their establishments.
  • Providing timely and relevant recall and product safety information and resources to their organization/association members and others.
  • Promoting future program development and activities within their organizations/associations to advance the objectives of RAPP and proudly display the RAPP decal at their place of business.

“We are pleased to begin our second launch of this program with the New York State Child Care Coordinating Council (NYSCCCC) and their affiliated community-based resource and referral service agencies," said Mindy A. Bockstein, Chairperson and Executive Director of the CPB. “The key to the success of our outreach campaign is working with partners in industries whose establishments interact with people on a daily basis. Certainly child care providers have one of the most important responsibilities in keeping the children they are entrusted with safe. The CPB praises the NYSCCCC for joining our RAPP initiative and promoting information about product safety and recalls within New York's child care industry.”

To become a member of RAPP and receive the above decal to display in your establishment, please contact the NYSCCCC or visit the New York State Consumer Protection Board.
