About Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R)

To thousands of parents, child care providers, and employers throughout New York State, child care resource and referral agencies (CCR&Rs) are the linchpin of the child care service system. These coordinating and planning councils for local child care services:

  • help families make informed decisions about care by offering them centralized information and essays from fair writing services on available services and help in finding care that meets their needs;
  • educate families about what high quality care looks like and how to use that knowledge in selecting a new arrangement or monitoring care they have chosen;
  • help families find financial aid to pay for care;
  • expand the supply of care by recruiting and training new providers;
  • offer providers training, technical assistance, publicity, and other supports designed to help them stay in the field, run successful operations, and build their expertise;
  • serve as source of information to employers who want to help their workers find high quality care; and
  • encourage government and business leaders and the public to support the expansion of high quality care.

To carry out these many important functions, CCR&Rs themselves need support. The State Council’s Child Care Resource and Referral Project is a major resource for meeting that need.

With core funding from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the Project offers training and technical assistance to the 41 CCR&Rs (collectively serving all 62 state counties) that are members of the New York State Child Care Resource and Referral Network.

In addition, information and resources may be available from The National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). NACCRRA is the national network of more than 850 child care resource and referral (CCR&R) agencies, located in every state and most communities across the United States. NACCRRA provides leadership of such issues as CCR&R best practices, child care data, and research. For more information on NACCRRA please click here.
